The Soo Greyhounds have signed one of their two first round picks from the 2025 OHL Priority Selection.

The team announced this morning that Noah Laus, selected seventh overall in the draft, has inked a standard player contract with the club.

Laus spent last season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA team where he scored 25 goals and 41 points in 33 regular season games.

Laus also led the annual OHL Cup in scoring with eight goals and 16 points in eight games.

After the draft, Greyhounds general manager Kyle Raftis said the team was getting "a guy that has elite skill."

“He plays a game that is full 200 feet, but can score from anywhere on the ice,” Raftis added.

“He’s just somebody that’s continually gotten better every year. He’s been a captain everywhere he’s gone. Everyone you talk to just raves about him. He’s a character person.”

In a statement, Laus said he was "truly honoured to join such a great organization."

A report from OHL Central Scouting noted Laus as “a big power forward that plays the game the right way every time he is on the ice.”

“He has the skills to make plays in all three zones, sees the ice well and moves it at the right times and can also challenge defenders one on one,” the scouting report also said.

“He is a shooter on the power play as they have certain plays designed to have him as the trigger. He has a high compete and hockey sense which make him valuable in every situation. Noah is the kind of player coaches will have out in the last minute of a game whether its up or down by a goal.”
