The 41 year-old native of Sault Ste. Marie said in a Toronto Star article today that he will take a month to relax and discuss his future with his family. Francis still believes that he has the skills to compete at the National Hockey League level.

Many hockey observers were extremely upset with Francis being scratched from the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup in their final post season contest on Tuesday.

With his retirement being rumoured, fans were hoping for the two-time Stanley Cup champion to go out on the ice.

But The Sports Network reported on Thursday that Francis was scratched due to a back injury.
