Brad Jacobs’ run at the latest Grand Slam of Curling event came to an end on Saturday.
The Jacobs rink, which includes third E.J. Harnden, second Matt Wozniak, and lead Ryan Harnden, dropped a 5-4 decision in an extra end to Glenn Howard of Penetanguishene, Ont. in the quarterfinals of the National in Conception Bay South, Nfld.

Jacobs would pull to within one with a single in the seventh end before forcing the extra end by stealing one in the eighth end.
The loss ended a strong week for the Jacobs rink, who went 4-0 in round robin action.
Howard advanced to the quarterfinal thanks to a tiebreaker win over Saskatoon’s Kirk Muyers on Friday night and was slated to face Ross Paterson of Scotland in semifinal action on Saturday night.
The other semifinal was scheduled to see Bruce Mouat of Scotland face Calgary’s Kevin Koe.
The National features 15 men’s and 15 women’s teams, which are split into pools of five teams each.
The top eight teams moved on to the playoff round with the championship on both sides scheduled for Sunday.
