Brad Jacobs’ run at the Canadian Open came to an end on Saturday.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, dropped a 5-2 decision to Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton.

Bottcher scored four in the opening end with the hammer en route to the quarterfinal win.

Jacobs got into the quarterfinal thanks to a C Bracket win over Matt Dunstone of Regina, Sask. earlier in the day Saturday.

Against Dunstone, Jacobs scored four in the seventh end to break open what was a tight game at the time.

The Canadian Open is the fifth event on the Grand Slam of Curling schedule.

A triple knockout format, the six-day event saw teams begin as part of an A Bracket.

Teams that lost were moved to the B Bracket and then to the C Bracket if they lost again. Teams that lost in the C Bracket were eliminated from the tournament.

On both the men’s and women’s side, two teams from the A Bracket, three teams from the B Bracket and two teams from the C Bracket qualified for the playoff round.
