Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs and his Canadian team are unbeaten through two days at the 2025 World Men’s Curling Championship in Moose Jaw, Sask.
The Jacobs rink, which curls out of Alberta, picked up a 9-3 win over Korea in its lone game of the day Sunday.
Jacobs opened up the game by scoring three with the hammer in the opening end and never really looked back.
After forcing Korea to a single in the second end, Jacobs made a draw for two in the third end to make it a 5-1 game.
Leading 5-2, Jacobs added two more in the fifth end after a draw on his final shot of the end.
After Jacobs blanked the seventh end, a pair in the eighth end capped off the scoring.
“We had control of that game from the get-go,” Jacobs said in media availability posted by Curling Canada.
Asked about his team’s confidence in taking on any shot, Jacobs said, “We’ve felt that way since the start of the Brier.”
“We’ve been really rolling since the beginning of March,” Jacobs added. “There isn’t a shot out there that we’re scared to throw right up and down the lineup. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this type of confidence in my teammates and myself. It’s a really satisfying thing.”
Team Jacobs third Marc Kennedy was asked about a difference in the skip from the one the team sees on tour.
“It’s been a long since he’s worn the maple leaf and I think he’s really embracing it and cherishing it,” Kennedy said. “We’ve given him an environment and a culture where he can be his best self. He feels comfortable and he’s practiced all the right things and he’s working hard.”
“I’ve always known Brad as a really good momentum player. A 'once he gets going, look out' kind of thing,” Kennedy added. “We’ve been seeing that for the last couple of months.”
The Jacobs rink, which also includes second Brett Gallant and lead Ben Hebert, returns to action with a single game on Monday. The Canadian entry will face Scotland in the afternoon draw.
