For the third consecutive season, the Korah Colts are northern Ontario champs in junior high school football.
A week after winning the city title, Korah cruised to a 50-13 victory over the Lively Hawks on Saturday to capture the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) title.
It also marked the second consecutive season the Colts beat Lively in the NOSSA final.
The Colts went unbeaten in regular season play with a 6-0 record before advancing to the city final thanks to a win over White Pines in semi-final action.
In the city final, the Colts blanked St. Mary’s 26-0 last weekend at Superior Heights.
Korah’s victory continues a stretch that has seen Sault teams capture the Mansell Cup, which signifies junior football supremacy in the north, nine consecutive times. That includes six titles for the Colts.
Lively captured the Sudbury city title thanks to a win over St. Benedict in the Sudbury city final.
The Colts victory was part of a successful weekend for local schools in NOSSA play as the St. Mary’s Knights picked up a semi-final win in North Bay in senior play and will host the senior NOSSA final locally this weekend.
