The Mayor's Cup concluded the round robin portion of the tournament on Wednesday night with two things left to be decided.

In the Over-33 Division, the semi-final participants had already been decided which meant the early game on Wednesday would determine who finished in second in the division as Mr. Transmission took on Stitch King/Weedman.

The game was tight for the better part of two periods with Mr. Transmission holding a 3-2 lead after two periods before opening the game up in the third period with three goals in just under two minutes to skate to a 6-3 win.

Doug Laprod led the way for Mr. Transmission with three goals. Romano Carlucci added two goals while Al Carrier had the other goal for Mr. Transmission. Jody Wilson, Lou Melchiorre, and Bill Carriere scored for Stitch King.

The semi-finals in the Over-33 Division, which kicks off on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Soo Pee Wee Arena, will see first place Tulloch Engineering take on fourth place Blueliners.

On Friday at 7 p.m., the second semi-final will see Mr. Transmission and Stitch King/Weedman will face off again for a berth in the final.

In the Open Division game on Wednesday night, fans were treated to a sensational goaltending performance by Soo Kings goaltender Jamie Disano.

The effort was all in a losing cause though as the Kings dropped a 4-1 decision to the Blueliners Bulls in a game that decided first place in the division. Both teams had entered the game undefeated.

Through one period it looked as though Disano was going to steal the game for the Kings with a number of big stops on the Blueliners shooters.

Blueliners opened the game up in the second with goals from Al Dipasqua and Ryan Leonard to take a 2-0 lead into the third period. Leonard also chipped in with an assist in the third period.

In the third, Dan Lambert and Gary Roach scored to open up a 4-0 Blueliners lead. Roach added two assists for a three point night.

Kevin MacKay scored the lone goal for the Kings in the loss. The goal put MacKay into top spot in the Open Division scoring race with 10 points.

Blueliners has little time to rest and savour their first place finish as they will take on fourth place A.J. Bus Lines in the first open Division semi-final at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The Kings will take on third place McDougall Fuels on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. to determine the other finalist in the division.

The finals for both divisions will take place on Saturday night at the Pee Wee Arena. The Over-33 Division final will kick off the night of action at 7 p.m. while the Open Division final is slated for 8:30 p.m.
