Men’s Indoor Soccer
Jan. 31, 2019 – Sault College Cougars @ George Brown Tournament
The Cougars traveled to Toronto, Ont. to participate in a day tournament that saw seven teams register. Due to unforeseen weather Lakehead University was not able to send their team causing a reshuffled of the schedule which gave little to no rest between the games. The men ended the tournament with one win and four loses, the team played outstanding even if the record didn't show.
The Cougars played the top team in the province Seneca losing 1-0 the Cougars had many chances to score they just couldn't find the back of the goal. The next game the Cougars faced the host school George Brown again the Cougars couldn't get on the scoreboard, losing 3-0. Finally In their next game the Cougars were able to put a point on the board with the help of Michael Chilelli, defeating Canadore 1-0. The final game of their pool play saw the Cougars face Georgian, the Cougars had a hard fought match losing 1-0. This placed the Cougars in a match were they had a rematch against their previous opponents Georgian, during the rematch the Cougars ran out of gas and saw them lose 5-0.
Assistant coach Scott Davie said that Aaron Grawbarger had an unbelievable tournament, keeping the games close giving the Cougars a chance. Davie said that the other teams and referees were giving Grawbarger complements on his performance. "This tournament gave the guys the confidence and evidence that they can compete against the top guys," said head coach Joe Ceglie.
The men's team will be travelling to Georgian to playing in their tournament Feb. 22, 2019. After that the team will be traveling to Redeemer University to play in the Regionals March 4, 2019.

Due to unforeseen weather Lakehead University was not able to send their team which lead to the schedule being rearranged. The girls had a tough weekend where they were not able to put the ball into the net, which caused them to lose each game.
The women's team will be travelling to Georgian to playing in their tournament Feb. 22, 2019. After that the team will be traveling to Redeemer University to play in the regionals March 4, 2019.
Women’s Basketball
Feb. 2, 2019 Sault College Cougars vs. Humber Hawks
The Humber Hawks came to town this past weekend, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. the women took to the court. The highly rated Hawks came in thinking that they had two easy wins against the Cougars who had a record of 0-14. Humber started off the game strong scoring seven unanswered points, this didn't break the Cougars as they came roaring back ending the quarter 16-17.
Early on in the second quarter the Cougars took the lead for the first time, which the Hawks did not like soaring back to take a 3 point lead at the end of the half. The third quarter saw both teams play an equal game both scoring 16 points, still only down three points the girls were trading baskets, eventually the Cougars got into foul trouble which gave the Hawks their opening as they went on a 10-0 run putting the game out of reach for the Cougars.
The following day saw the Cougars have a rematch against the same Humber Hawks. The Cougars who were exhausted after previous days amazing performance, kept the game close in the first quarter going down 19-11. The Hawks who did not take the Cougars lightly this game stepped up the pace which saw the exhausted Cougars fall behind and not be able to catch back up.
Mercedes Ryan had an amazing weekend, scoring 15 points, grabbing 27 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Her performance over the weekend gave the girls a chance at upsetting the Hawks. The women's team travels to Kitchener this weekend to take on the Conestoga Condors.
Men’s Basketball
Feb. 2, 2019 Sault College Cougars vs. Humber Hawks
The Humber Hawks came to town this past weekend, Feb. 2 the number one ranked team Hawks came to the Sault to show why they are ranked first. The first game proved that the Hawks outmatched the Cougars as they got off to a soaring lead 66-32 at halftime. Head coach Aaron Brown tried to rally the team, but unfortunately the team was not able to respond, which saw the Hawks score another 64 points in the second half. The Cougars lost the first game 130-55.
The second game again saw the Hawk storm out of the gate scoring 24 unanswered points, and getting to a 34-12 lead after 10 minutes, at halftime coach Brown tried to rally the team for a second day in a row, this time it worked as Cougars were able to win the third quarter 19-15 and overall played better than the Hawks that quarter, but due to the large lead the Hawks achieved, the Cougars couldn't surpass the Hawks eventually losing 129-58.
Stephen Miller had a great weekend scoring 46 points almost half of the Cougars points on the weekend. The men's team travel to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga Condors.
