The Sault College Cougars emerged victorious in two of three Ontario Colleges Athletic Association contests at home on Friday night.

In men's basketball, the Cougars kept their playoff hopes alive with an 87-81 victory over the Redeemer College Royals in a scrappy affair.

Jordan Sanders led the Cougars attack with 26 points, Nathan Whalen added 20 while Chris Burk and Jeff Rennison, who also collected a game high 11 rebounds, poured in 13 each. Eric Bulthuis led the Royals with 39 points and Victor Finora added 15.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-5 and a victory at Fanshawe on Feb. 20 would secure the team a playoff berth.

In women's volleyball, the Cougars continued their stellar play this season and improved to 9-3 with a 25-16, 25-16 and 25-22 straight sets win over Redeemer. Desiree Simon led the Cougars offense with nine points on five kills, two stuff blocks and two service aces.
