The Soo North Stars remain unbeaten after completing a two game sweep of Kapuskasing on Sunday afternoon.
After defeating the Kapuskasing Flyers 9-6 on Saturday night, the North Stars returned to the John Rhodes Centre on Sunday and handed the Flyers a 5-2 loss. The win improves the North Stars record to 3-0 in the Great North Midget League.
Adam Kauppi led the Soo with two goals and two assists while Michael D'Agostini scored two goals and added an assist. Zac Torquato scored the other North Star's goal and Ben Davey added two assists. Michael Maulucci went the distance in goal for the locals.
The North Stars remain home for a pair of games next weekend at the John Rhodes Centre against the New Liskeard Cubs. Game times are 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Soo Thunderbirds completed a two game Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League road trip on the weekend with a win and a tie to remain undefeated and alone in first place in the west division.
The Thunderbirds defeated the Manitoulin Wild 5-4 on Friday night before battling the Abitibi Eskimos to a 5-5 tie on Saturday night. The team holds a 3-0-1 record in four regular season games. In Saturday's tie, Mike MacMillan led the Thunderbirds with two goals while single goals went to D.J. Jelitto, Alex Butkos and Josh Leddy. Nick Tombari and Tom Vernelli added two assists each.
On Friday, Jelitto scored twice with Butkos, Leddy and Kelly Thomson scoring once each. MacMillan and Justin Towell added two assists each.
The Thunderbirds visit the Blind River Beavers, who won their first game of the season 6-4 on Saturday over Rayside Balfour, on Wednesday before returning home to host Abitibi on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Northern Michigan on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the John Rhodes Centre
