Team Jacobs set to wrap up Masters round robin

The second Grand Slam of Curling event of the season has been tough on Brad Jacobs and his team from the Community First Curling Centre.

The Jacobs rink, which includes third Ryan Fry, second E.J. Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden, dropped an 8-2 decision to Niklas Edin of Sweden on Thursday night at the Masters in Truro, NS. 

The loss drops Jacobs to 0-3 heading into their round robin finale on Friday.

In Thursday’s loss to Edin, the Jacobs rink trailed 3-2 through four ends before the Edin rink took scored a single in the sixth end and stole four in the seventh to seal the win.

Jacobs opened action on Thursday by dropping a 7-6 decision in an extra end to Toronto’s John Epping in the morning draw.

Against Epping, Jacobs needed a single in the eighth to force the extra end. 

Jacobs held a 5-2 lead over Epping through five ends before the Toronto-based-rink scored two in the sixth and stole two in the seventh to take the lead.

The Jacobs rink opened the event on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-3 loss to Scotland’s Ross Paterson.

Leading 1-0, Paterson stole two in the second end before also scoring two in the fifth and seventh ends to seal the win.

The Jacobs rink wraps up round robin action on Friday afternoon against Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller.
