A long three-game Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League road trip opened for the Soo Thunderbirds on Friday night.
A trio of late goals would be the difference as the Thunderbirds dropped a 3-0 decision to the Hearst Lumberjacks Friday night at Claude Larose Arena.
Hearst goaltender Nicholas Tallarico came up big, stopping 43 shots for the shutout. It included a 21-save second period.
Bradley Golant’s power play goal 3:25 into the third period was the eventual game-winner.
Golant finished the night with a pair of goals.
Daniel Fisher also scored for the Lumberjacks. Alec Johnson assisted on a pair of Hearst goals.
William Anderson made 19 saves for the Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Saturday night in Cochrane against the Crunch before wrapping up its three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon in Timmins against the Rock.
