Thunderbirds double up Crunch

The Soo Thunderbirds picked up a 6-3 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League victory over the Cochrane Crunch on Saturday night.

It was the second game of a three-game road trip for the Thunderbirds that wraps up on Sunday in Timmins against the Rock.

Lucas Theriault, Avery Rebek, Noah Boman, Tyler Malpass, Nick Smith, and Matthew Bazarin had a goal and an assist each for the Thunderbirds offensively.

Steven Bellini assisted on a pair of goals.

Colin Ahern made 25 saves for the Thunderbirds.

Caleb Dolman, Steven Cope, and Trent Grimshaw scored for Cochrane.

Zach Wickson got the start in goal for Cochrane and made 12 saves in the opening period before being pulled after giving up three goals in the period.

Shayne Battler made 12 saves on 15 shots in the final two periods.
