The Soo Thunderbirds moved into a tie for top spot in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League standings on Sunday.
The Thunderbirds picked up a 5-2 win on the road on Sunday afternoon against the Blind River Beavers to move into a tie with the Soo (Mich.) Eagles atop the standings.
Since starting the regular season with a 1-3-1-0 record, the Thunderbirds have gone 10-0-1-1 since.
Goaltender Kolton Bourret made 40 saves for the Thunderbirds in Sunday's win over the Beavers while Daniel Beaupre led the way offensively with a goal and a pair of assists in the victory.
James Legler and Samuel Lake added a goal and an assist each for the Thunderbirds.
Thomas Degagne and Grayson Ebrahim also scored.
Jakob Kovacs had a goal and an assist for the Beavers.
Andrey Manov also scored while goaltender Iain Wintle stopped 15 shots in the loss.
The Thunderbirds improve to 11-3-2-1 with the victory. Blind River sits at 11-6-0-0.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Tuesday night with a game against the Elliot Lake Vikings. Puck drop at the John Rhodes Community Centre is set for 7 p.m.
