The Soo Thunderbirds returned to Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action on Friday night on the road but couldn’t get a full game in.

The Thunderbirds first game following the Christmas break, a game against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, was suspended following a Carbon Monoxide leak at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex in Kirkland Lake Friday.

The game was suspended late in the second period after CO alarms sounded in the rink, which was safely evacuated.

The game was tied at one at the time play was stopped.

Details on when the game would be completed were not clear as of Friday night.

The Thunderbirds return to action on Saturday night in Powassan against the Voodoos before finishing up the weekend on Sunday on the road against the French River Rapids.
