The Soo Thunderbirds opened up a weekend exhibition series against the Soo (Mich.) Eagles on Friday night with a victory.
A pair of goals in the third period by Avery Rebek lifted the Thunderbirds to a 4-3 win over the Eagles.
Brandon Gordon made 45 saves for the Thunderbirds, which included 22 in the opening period.
Brendan Miller and Alexi Acosta also scored for the visitors while Ryan Mulligan set up a pair of goals.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the opening period thanks to goals by Chris Banser and Mikey Butcher 1:09 apart late in the frame. Mihali See also scored for the Eagles. All three goals came by way of the power play.
Eagles goaltender Shane Brancato made 24 saves.
The two teams return to action on Saturday night in a 7 p.m. start at Pullar Stadium in Sault, Mich.
