For a few moments tonight, the hockey world wrapped its collective arms around our grieving community.

During the second intermission of Wednesday’s Game 2 of the Montreal/Washington playoff series, Sportsnet aired an emotional segment on Connor Dunn, the Grade 10 Korah Collegiate student killed by a suspected drunk driver last weekend.

"Our hockey family here at Sportsnet sends out its deepest condolences to the Dunn family of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.," said broadcaster David Amber, as photos of the young athlete flashed on the screen. “The Sault, one of the great hockey communities in all of Canada, and this week tragedy hit as 15-year-old Connor Dunn died after being struck by an alleged impaired driver on Easter Sunday."

“Connor played forward on the U16 AA Jr. Greyhounds," Amber continued. "Our thoughts are with the Dunn family: Mom Melanie, Dad John, Connor’s younger brother Cash, and their grandmother Sheila.”
