Who says you can't trade with your old team? Kitchener Rangers' hockey boss Peter DeBoer has proved otherwise. DeBoer, who was coach/general manager of the Plymouth Whalers for six seasons, pulled the trigger on a three-player deal with his old team on Wednesday. DeBoer shipped a pair of small forwards -- 5-foot-11, 175 lb. Ryan Ramsay and 5-foot-8, 170 lb. Gary Klapkowski -- to Plymouth for 6-foot-1, 200 lb. left winger Gregory Campbell. The rugged Campbell, who ground his way to 17 goals, 53 points and 105 PIM with Plymouth last season, previously played a year for DeBoer, who left for Kitchener at the beginning of the 2001-02 Ontario Hockey League season. Campbell is seen as the perfect linemate for Kitchener's star centre Derek Roy, who led the Rangers with 43 goals and 89 points last season. Ramsay -- a first-round pick of the Peterborough Petes in 1999 -- had 24 goals and 48 points for Kitchener last season. Klapkowski started the season with the Rangers but scored just once and added an assist in 18 games before finishing up playing Tier Two Jr.A in Springfield. "Ramsay's an in-your-face kind of player but we have a lot of players his size and with his strengths," said DeBoer. "Campbell gives us the power forward we've been lacking and looking for."
