A grade six student raised money through a bake sale for charity and the playground at her school.

Emily approached her principal, Carrie Vaz, at Boreal French Immersion Public School with a bake sale at their Winter Concert.

She wanted to make sure that all the families at the school felt included, inviting them to donate their favourite sweets for whatever holiday they might celebrate through the year, Vaz said.

Emily raised $452 to donate to Christmas Cheer, who provides disadvantaged families in the area with grocery store gift cards, winter accessories and grooming products, and toys for the children, according to 211 Ontario North.

Vaz said the school is very proud of Emily for raising money to help families in the community.
