With more than a dozen openings to fill, local security services company Norpro is partnering with Sault College Employment Solutions to host a job fair for full-time security guard positions. The fair will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Employment Solutions office, located at 421 Bay St. in the fourth floor of Station Tower.

Norpro is a leading security service provider, offering a wide range of security and health and safety needs in both Ontario and Michigan. The positions Norpro is hiring for are permanent, full-time roles that will be based at a variety of industrial sites throughout the region. Norpro offers a competitive starting wage, as well as the potential opportunity for overtime shifts. Paid accommodation, meals, and transportation will also be provided for some positions.

Interested candidates should be physically fit and able to work a variety of shifts. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and familiarity with computers, as well as a willingness to obtain their security guard license and First Aid/CPR. Prior security guard experience is not required, as on the job training will be provided.

Those interested in applying should attend the job fair at the Employment Solutions office on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a resume that details relevant skills and qualifications, three references, and a copy of their First Aid/CPR certification if they possess one. Company representatives from Norpro will be on-hand to conduct interviews throughout the event’s duration.

Sault Community Career Centre, in partnership with Norpro Company, will be holding a job fair and information session on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

The job fair and information session will be held at Sault Community Career Centre, 503 Queen St. E. Norpro will be onsite for interviews, so please bring a copy of your resume and references.  

Norpro is actively expanding and seeking permanent full-time security guards for industrial site security outside of Sault Ste. Marie. Wages start at $17.21/hour.

Shifts include days and nights. The work schedule consists of one week on, one week off. All travel (if departing from Sault Ste. Marie) to the location, accommodation, and meals are covered. Potential opportunity for overtime.    

Duties may include access control, fuel pump measurement, refinery patrols, mine patrols, mill and yard patrols, report writing, snow shoveling, and other duties as required. 

Must be able to work all shifts noted above. Must be physically fit. Must be familiar with computers (Microsoft Word, etc.)  Must be familiar with email, telephone systems, and radio communications.  

Minimum requirements include valid Ontario Security Guard Licence (or willingness to obtain), Basic First Aid CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain), and a valid G class driver’s licence.
