NEWS RELEASE
NORTHERN CREDIT UNION
****************************
April 24 - 30, 2022 is National Volunteer Week across Canada, and Northern Credit Union employees will be making big impacts in Northern communities by participating in various volunteer opportunities throughout the week. From donating books, food, and hygiene products to local shelters, to cleaning up parks and public areas, our employees will be giving back to the communities we serve because that is the credit union difference.
In support of National Volunteer Week, the Northern Credit Union branch located at 280 McNabb St. in Sault Ste. Marie is taking initiative to collect personal hygiene products from April 25-29 to donate to Pauline's Place Non-Profit Homes Inc. Pauline's Place indicated an urgent need for shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products through a social media post on April 19th, so Northern saw this as a perfect opportunity to make a big impact on a local organization for National Volunteer Week. Find the blue box in-branch to donate new and unused personal hygiene products in support of Pauline's Place. In addition, corporate employees in Sault Ste. Marie will be collecting debris off of our streets throughout the week, in efforts to clean up the city in time for spring bloom.
As part of Northern Credit Union's employee Do Some Good program, Northern will pay their employees for three (3) hours of volunteer time. If they complete all three (3) hours within the year, the employee will receive $100 to donate to a charity of their choice. Employees also log their volunteer hours and upload photos and stories of their volunteer opportunities to www.DoSomeGood.ca, where they can highlight and share the positive impacts they make in their communities. Through this program, employees will be encouraged to get involved in their communities while inspiring others to make a difference this National Volunteer Week.
Many Northern employees go above and beyond in their communities, volunteering for multiple organizations on an ongoing basis. To thank these volunteers, Northern Credit Union will be sharing stories on social media throughout the week to spread their messages of why they believe volunteering is important, and what inspires them to be a compassionate volunteer. As a co-operative organization, Northern is proud to employ community-focused individuals who are passionate about revitalizing, building, and maintaining healthy, positive communities.
