After 69 challenging years, defying all the odds, fighting against Aicardi Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy, Sandra passed away in her sleep on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Born December 1, 1954, she is the daughter of the late George and the late Elizabeth Gadde. Loved sister of Rick Gadde (Richards Landing, Ontario), Brian Sutton (Springhill, Nova Scotia), late Jeffrey Gadde, and half–sister of Christopher Sutton (Comox, B.C.).
Sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Alan McLean, EMS of Sault Ste. Marie, and for the courtesy, care, and service of the responding officers of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.
A rare and unfamiliar disease, only affecting females, with less than 10 percent survival rate to the age of 18 years, and less than one percent beyond 30, Sandra was a true warrior. Her longevity, safety and comfort are directly contributable to the support, skills and dedication of the staff and administration of Community Living Algoma. Sandra is a shining example for the de-institutionalization of persons with special needs, which has been replaced by services that are specific to the individual, and community based. Sandra’s loss is shared by the caring staff of the Sussex, 501 B and C Boundary Road residences. To the staff of CLA, for the care of Sandra, and to John Policicchio, for his comforting words, thank you.
A special thank you to Dr. Stephen Roedde, for his partnership along Sandra’s journey, and his true friendship.
No service will be held. Internment at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa where Sandra will be reunited with our dad and brother.
