It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Gary Baic, a beloved husband, father, Poppy, brother, and friend. Bill left this world surrounded by his dear family, on June 26, 2025, at the age of 86, in his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, the same place where his story began on June 6, 1939.
Bill's life was a testament to his enduring love and commitment. He was the cherished husband and best friend of Theresa Ross Baic, his soul mate with whom he shared his life journey. A devoted father, Bill's legacy is carried on through his children, Sherrie Palmerio (John), Deborah Baic (Blades), and Chris Baic (Nicole), who were the pride and joy of his life. As a beloved Poppy, he showered his grandchildren Kasandra (Chris), Jacob (Emily), and Michael (Kristen), with love. Loving son of the late Rose and Bill Baic and brother to Ron Baic and the late Sharon Baic. Bill was the cornerstone of a family that adored him.
Bill's professional life was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit. For over three decades, he owned and operated John's TV, working alongside his wife and son. His talents extended to carpentry and electrical work, trades in which he excelled and often shared his skills with others. Bill's foray into tobacco farming showcased his willingness to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and determination.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. His love for camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing and going to Kinniwabi with the guys was more than a pastime; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit. Bill's passion for exploring the northern Algoma region was infectious, and he was always eager to discover what lay beyond the next corner. His love of history and storytelling enriched the lives of those around him, as he had a unique ability to weave humour into the stories he shared.
Bill Baic leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love that will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. In every shared story, every moment spent in the great outdoors, and every act of generosity, Bill's memory will live on. Dybosia, Bill, as you embark on your final journey know that your spirit remains with us, lighting the path forward with the love and laughter you so generously gave.
Heartfelt thank you to the staff who cared for Bill in the McCarrol Lake Unit of Extendicare Maple View (Sault Ste. Marie).
In keeping with Bill's wishes there will be no funeral, and a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
