May 11, 1937 - January 20, 2025.. With great sadness, we announce the passing of Marie Barban (Veteri).
Loving wife of Carlo and mother of Jeff (Jennifer) and Perry (Karen). Predeceased by her parents Armand and Eva Veteri. She was a loving Nanni to Jay (Robyn), Kendall (Dave), Quinn (Catia), Micah (Caleb), Cole and Tyler. She tolerated but secretly loved her grand-pets. Marie’s family were her greatest joy! She was so proud of her children, grand-children and enjoyed hearing about their lives and adventures.
Marie enjoyed a very close relationship with her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert & Kathleen, Albert (late) & Anita and she shared many special times with them. She also felt blessed to be part of the Barban family and dearly loved all of Carlo’s family, including Ray (late) & Gertie, Gabe (late) & Theresa Rose (TR), Rino, late Linda , Valli & Ed (late) and Bruno & Marilyn. Marie was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews in both the Barban and Veteri families.
Marie spent her final morning as she wished, at home with her husband Carlo and her sons by her side. She had just enjoyed a weekend full of visits with her children and grandchildren, telling stories and laughing with them. The house was filled with the delicious smells of the home-made soup bubbling on the stove, that Marie and Carlo had made together. Marie was a wonderful cook and loved to share a good Italian dinner with her family.
Marie’s most special moments were spent with Carlo vacationing in Florida, travelling to Italy and most of all, enjoying many wonderful years at their cottage on St. Joe’s Island. Over the years, they made many wonderful friends and Marie cherished these friendships dearly, including neighbours that were like family, the “Friday night group” and her coffee club. Marie enjoyed reminiscing about all the adventures and misadventures they had along the way, with their friends and family alongside them.
Marie was the heart and soul of our family, and she had a special connection with each of us. She was happiest when we were gathered together, and we will keep Marie’s family values in our hearts as we go forward.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Marie's life at Precious Blood Cathedral (778 Queen Street East) on Wednesday, January 29 at 11 am, Fr. Jeff Shannon officiating, followed by a luncheon in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Heart & Stroke foundation or the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Barban family.
To honour Marie we ask everyone to make a toast and share a meal with family and friends as this is what she loved to do.
