With profound sadness the family announce the peaceful passing of George Barritt at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Friday, July 15, 2016.  George was affectionately known as “The Candy Man” to fans of the Soo Greyhounds and Soo Thunder Birds.  George was predeceased by his wife Barbara and son Scott.  Also predeceased by his parents Stanley and Elsie Barritt, his sister Shirley and brother-in-law John Hinds, sister Gail and brother-in-law George Fink, mother-in-law and father-in-law Edythe and Stuart MacDonald, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maureen and Randy Martin and brother-in-law Jerry Morris.  He is survived by his son Todd Barritt (Julie), daughter Lauri-Ann Marshall (Robert), his grandchildren Addison, Brooke, Nikki, Peter and Jennifer and his great grandchildren Cole, Teagan and Rhett.  Also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Morris and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lynda and Roy Hounsell. George was employed with Air Canada for 37 years in both the Sault and Thunder Bay.  As well as his passion for hockey, he was an avid racing fan. George was blessed to have numerous friends who will miss him dearly.  As per George’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to ARCH would be greatly appreciated.  The family would like to acknowledge the staff of 2B and ARCH for their care and compassion. (Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 705-759-2522)  Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com
