BOYER, Francis ‘Frank’ ‘Bojo’

Posted

Boyer

Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on January 19, 2022, at the age of 75.

Partner and best friend of Alice Knopp. Father of Derek (Sheila), Jodi-Lynn, Darren, and stepfather of Freddie Knopp. Grandfather to Aspen and Tyler Boyer-Belanger. Son of the late Frank Sr and Elizabeth Boyer. Brother of the late Allan, Adele Madigan (Michael), Eugene (Lise), Melvin, Lorraine (late John Peterson) and Clarence. Cherished uncle of Brad, Jennifer and Lorri Madigan, Chrystal, Lisa, Carrie, Wendy and John Peterson, and Sarah, Bryan Boyer, and Cassie. Nephew of Irene Stevens. Caring friend to Bessie-Ann.

Frank was a hard-working man. He began an apprenticeship at the Sault Star as a Pressman at the age of 18. He worked there for 42 years. Frank was also a gifted musician. He played lead guitar with numerous local bands throughout his early years. He later formed a band called the ‘Boyer Brothers’. Frank was a master of instruments. He then formed a one-man band by recording his guitar, fiddle, banjo, the steel guitar, mouth organ and the drums. He would then sing and entertain at many celebrations, weddings and at local pubs. Frank was a member of the Northern Ontario Country Music Association. He was inducted to the Great Northern Oprey in April 1998.

Frank was avid storyteller. He would give special attention to those people he liked by teasing them; it was his way of honouring you. Frank loved to feed and watch the birds. He would also buy treats and wait for the ‘escaping’ Rez dogs to stop by and visit. He enjoyed Max, Prince and Blizzard.

Due to COVID there will be no visitation or services at this time. There will be a family Celebration of Life at a later date. Thank you to the wonderful and caring staff on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital, Dr. Bowen, Dr. K. Hopper, Beth Summer – Navigator at Mamawesmen, Father Boguslaw Jaroszek at Holy Family Parish and James Roach at The Indian Friendship Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society (payable online or by cheque). Visit www.osullivanfuneralhome.com to leave condolences for the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.

Rest in peace my brother
