After a long life filled with love, family and good friends, Archie passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on Thursday May 8, 2025, at the age of 90.
Predeceased by his wife Beatrice Bell (d.1986) and his daughter Jean Corcoran (d. 2014).
He is survived by his wife Greta, his 4 children, Mary (Eulyce), Linda (Ben), Ken, Audrey (Mike A) and stepchildren Gwen (Chuck), Eddie (Sheryl) and Robert (Cheryl). Adored Papa of Jamie (Nat), Tyler, Stephanie, Darren (Erin), Ray (Angela), Adam (Michelle), Natasha (Stuart), Drake (Hollie), Shannon, Cody, and step papa of Corrine (Moe), Courtney (Michael), Kieran (Fiona), Dawson and Camyron. Proud Great Papa of Cameron, Summer, Harmony, Maclyn, Maysen, Berkley, Reese, Liam and Lyla. Archie will be remembered by his brother Herman (late Shirley) and many nieces and nephews.
Archie was predeceased by his parents Hector Kenneth and Mary Ann Cameron; his brother John (late Marie) and his sister Annie (late Rauleigh).
He was born in Lochaber, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia.
Archie enjoyed hunting, fishing, a good game of cards, country music and dancing. He loved sharing stories with his family and friends, and they were full of history and good humour. Archie was a loving man who deeply cared for his family. Archie and his first wife, the late Beatrice (Bell) lovingly raised 5 children in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. In the following years, he married Greta and returned to Antigonish. He was cherished by his children and stepchildren. He especially loved the honour of being papa to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit who cared so much for Archie during his short stay there.
Honouring his wishes cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration will take place in Sault Ste. Marie at a later date.
