Jerry passed peacefully with his wife Sue, of 14 years by his side. Predeceased by his beloved partner of 30 years, Henrietta Bolton.

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Edith (nee Gordon) Cameron, brothers Jim and George as well as father-in-law Alex Preston.

Treasured brother of Dale (June). Brother-in-law to Janice Cameron and Gladys Cameron as well as Kevin Preston (Kathy) and Melody Hawkins (Jon). Stepdad to Scott and Ben Bailey, Angie Savoy (Josh) and the late Glenda Grisdale (Steve). Special “Grandpa” to Donald Micks, Charity Marks, Lisa Jackson, Leslie Cassey and Stephanie Grisdale. Special “Jerry” to Eva, River and Mabel Bailey and Viola and Brennan Savoy. Missed by his best wee doggy Ginger.

Jerry was born in Thessalon, attended a one room schoolhouse in Dayton that he walked to daily. He attended high school in Thessalon for half a year but came home to help on the farm due to family health issues. In 1954 he attended and graduated from Diesel and Auto Mechanic School in Toronto. He worked at Thessalon Motors for 26 years. He then went on to be an ironworker in Sault Ste. Marie for 10 years. He was a woodsman cutting trees, selling firewood and logs all the while running his beef farms.

In the words of Tom T. Hall “he liked beer!”.

He was an avid card player, and he knew many events and the history of the people who lived in Dayton long years ago. He was a hard working, kind, friendly, quiet man with an incredible sense of humour which he kept right up until the end. He will be so missed by his friends and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank homecare nurses Amy and Jessica for their special care of Jerry.

As per Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home.
