Mike chose to not have a funeral; he also wrote his own obituary, and it is as follows:
Mike has started his trek up the "Stairway to heaven", where he will be staying at "Hotel California". With him when he started his journey was the love of his life, his son Chris (Michael Christopher).
Waiting for him in the lobby of Hotel California will be his parents Agata and Pietro, his brother Nick, and his close friends Johnny and Dorothy. He is survived by his son Chris, sister Rose, nephews Greg, Kevin (Lisa), and David (Carla), his niece Kim (Richard), and their families. He's also survived by his "second son" Chris Harkin.
Everybody has that point in their life where you hit a crossroads. His life took real meaning when Chris was born. When the nurses put Chris in his arms, he finally realized what real love was. Chris was a gift from God. Mike was so proud of him and for the man he became. His last words to him will be "I love you son, with all my heart"
