Passed away peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on June 12, 2025, at the age of 98.
Loving husband of Lorraine (nee Garniss). Father of Tracey Cove (Brian Davies), William Cove (Mary Ann) and Eric Cove (Jen McDonald). Grandfather of Adam and Nathan Cove.
Predeceased by his parents William and Mary Ann (nee Aikens) Cove, as well as his siblings; Marjorie Ramsay (late Don), Florence Hands (late John), Glenn Cove (Patricia), Elisabeth ‘Betty’ Cloutier (late Guy) and Lindley Cove. Francis was very much loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
Francis was a gentleman in all ways, he was loved and respected by all those who knew him. Family was very important to him, and he remained very close to all of his siblings during their lives. He was an exceptional carpenter, cabinet maker and craftsman, who loved going to work with his partners at Rydall Bros & Cove well into his 70’s. In retirement, he continued his woodworking, curled into his 90’s in Thesslaon and lived life on his own terms until the end.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church (3133 Maple St, Hilton Beach) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00am with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Inurnment at the Laird Cemetery and Tea at the Laird Hall will follow.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who supported Francis during his stay at the F. J. Davey Home.
