It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adriana DaCunha, with her mom, sister, nieces and dear family friend, Jean, by her side at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the age of 56.  Born in Nova Lisboa, Angola, Africa and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Adriana was the cherished daughter of Maria Conceicao Cunha and the late Julio Cunha. Dear sister of Teresa Cunha Duraes and loving Titi (aunt) to Andrea Duraes and Deanne (fiance Sean) Duraes.  Adriana will be dearly missed by her family, cousins Joe (Cathy), Adriano (Marnie), Perry (Anne), cousins’ children (Matthew, Lauren, Adrian, Aaron, Ryan), family in Portugal and many friends. Adriana retired in 2014 after 30 years as a dedicated teacher and consultant with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. She had diverse interests and was passionate about sports (a loyal Leaf fan), music (especially Bruce Springsteen) and politics.  Adriana was a life-long learner, enjoyed travel, reading, playing in her weekly volleyball league, loved to laugh and most of all, loved her time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.  The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5440 Durie Road, Streetsville, Ontario.  A special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at Credit Valley Hospital.  There have been many cherished friends of Adriana who have supported her during this difficult time – the family extends their greatest gratitude for all the love you have shown.
