Peacefully passed at the Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie with his wife and family by his side on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the age of 89.
Beloved husband of Susan Danby. Dear father of Keith (Debbie), Mark (Alison) and Sabrina (Kevin). A loving step-father to Dennis Maj (Robin), Lisa Stroyan (Craig), Stephanie Warkentin (Dennis) and Bill Maj (Juline). Marvin will be dearly missed by his 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and Edison and his brother Ken Danby.
Marvin retired from Algoma Steel after a successful career. Early in his career he worked with his brother, renowned Canadian realist artist Ken Danby. He was very proud of his brother’s success. Marvin always reminded us that he “won.” That he was retired longer than he worked!
As per Marvin’s wishes there will be no funeral service and there will be a private graveside service at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared aw www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Danby family.
Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me . . . but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds,
Miss me . . . but let me go.
