It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Grace on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 87. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Adamo. Devoted mother of Adele (Yves), Anita (Dave), Linda (Gary) of San Jose CA, Joe (Christine) of Windsor ON and Carlo (Lori). Grandmother of Charles (Karine), Rachel, Tyler, Adam, Patrick, Miranda, Jessica (Domenic), Emma and Kayla. Great grandma “Nona” of Alex, Charles, Chloe, Philip, Brielle and Luca. Daughter of the late Saverio and Annita Giagnorio of Guglionesi, Combo Basso. Sister of Ilda (Ferdinando), Filomena (late Nicola), Adamo (Christina) of Guglionesi, Combo Basso. Daughter-in-law of the late Guiseppe and Adelina D’Ettorre. Sister-in-law of the late Ugo D’Ettorre (Charlene), George D’Ettorre (Pina), late Lina Barone (late Nicola) and the late Antonietta Beni (late Galiano). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace immigrated to Canada in 1960 to join her husband and begin her new life. She faced many challenges such as not being able to speak English and learning a new culture. With determination and hard work, she succeeded. The house was always full of kids who called her mom or Auntie Gracie and the kitchen was always open for tasty meals or fresh baking. It was common to have a few extras for dinner. Grace enjoyed coffee time with her Sydenham Rd friends who she loved and missed after she moved to Pathways Retirement Residence.
In keeping with Grace’s wishes a private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and supportive staff at the Sault Area Hospital (Emergency Department and Palliative Care), ParaMed Home Health Care, CBI, Dr. Jarrett, Dr. Booth and Dr. White for the exceptional care she received. Also, many thanks to the staff and management at Pathways Retirement Residence for making her stay a comfortable one.
