After a long courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mom, Wawa and sister, Elaine DiMichele, on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the age of 71. Elaine passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family.

Elaine is predeceased by her loving husband John of 49 years. A proud and dedicated mom to her children Cheryl Esposito (Mike) and John DiMichele (Kara) and her greatest treasures, her grandchildren Kylie & Drew Esposito and JJ & Isabella DiMichele. A special Wawie to her cat, Charlie. Predeceased by her parents Hilda Vincent and Howard Ross. Sister to Doreen (late John), Sharon, Mike (Wendy), Peggy (Bruce), Donna (Blaine), Bob, late Wayne, June and a very special thank you to her sister Linda (Ken) for all the help during this time. Cherished aunt of many, many nieces, and nephews.

A dedicated and long-time supervisor of the caretaking staff at HSCDSB (Huron - Superior Catholic District School Board), Elaine took great pride in her work. She had a heart of gold, always putting others before herself, and found joy in the simple things that made life beautiful. Whether it was going for a boat ride, getting her nails done, league bowling, playing bingo, or scrapbooking, she embraced life with optimism. Wherever there was a camera, you could find Elaine posing for a picture.

Elaine faced her seven-year journey with cancer with unwavering bravery taking strength from her belief that God was holding her hand every step of the way. Through every challenge, Elaine remained positive, inspiring those around her with her courage and faith. Her fight was driven by an incredible will to live, not just for herself, but for her family. Her love for them gave her the strength to face each day with determination to win her battle, knowing that her presence meant the world to them.

Above all, Elaine’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed a game or a chance to cheer them on, she was always in their corner as their biggest supporter. Known lovingly as “Wawa,” she filled every room with love, laughter, and warmth. Elaine's presence in our lives was a gift, and though she is no longer with us, her kindness, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Booth, Dr. Buehner, Dr. Carlsson, Dr. Patterson, Dr. Spadafora, as well as the staff at the Cancer Clinic at the Sault Area Hospital, for their compassionate care and support over the years. A special thank you to her home nurses Andrea and Lisa. The family is also deeply grateful to Algoma Residential Community Hospice for their wonderful care and support over the last two months.

Elaine’s resilience, her loving heart, and her ability to find beauty in every moment will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As per John and Elaine’s wishes, there will be a private service held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to ARCH in Elaine’s memory, to continue their legacy of hope and support for others facing similar battles. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Dimichele family.

This isn’t goodbye, Mom – just a see you later. We will love you always and carry you in our hearts forever.
