(August 13, 1963 - March 30, 2025)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Danny on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Predeceased by his mother Anne Dixon (1999) and father Willie Dixon (2009). Survived by his son Adam Dixon and Adam’s mother Donna. Brother of Patty Gagnon and Steve Dixon (Phyllis). Danny will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Alyssa Mitchell (Matthew), Deandra Gagnon, Brodie Gagnon, Amelia Dixon and Rowan Dixon.
After graduating as an Electrician from Sault College, Danny began his career at Algoma Tube Mill, but soon made the move to Callander, Ontario where he worked at North Bay Hydro until his retirement, where he continued to enjoy weekly coffee meetings with the Hydro crew. Outside of work, Danny was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan, often sporting Habs attire with pride when he wasn’t rocking a full Levi’s Canadian tuxedo. Danny was a true fan of rock music, especially AC/DC, so much so that he had “Thunderstruck” as his ringtone.
Danny’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. His infectious sense of humour and warm presence made him the heart of any gathering. Above all, Danny loved spending time with his only son Adam. Whether it was playing baseball together as Adam was growing up or watching Lord of the Rings marathons, Adam was always Danny’s #1.
Growing up, Danny enjoyed spending summers in Dunns Valley, baling hay on the Dixon and Foster farms and being surrounded by his many cousins, aunts and uncles, which he maintained a close bond with throughout his life. Danny’s generosity, sense of humour and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Danny’s life on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in the Lower Lounge at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 0B6, 705-945-7758) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 5:30 p.m. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
