April 9, 1948 – June 29, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Neil, who died peacefully at ARCH at the age of 77 on June 29, 2025.

Beloved husband of Paulette Duguay. Loving father of Brent Duguay (Marsha), Stacey Duguay and Lori Santa Maria (Rob). Cherished papa of Riayn, Tyler, Carter and Brock.

Neil was the son of the late Leonard and late Jessie Duguay. Stepson of Bob Booth. Predeceased by his brother Charlie Duguay (late June). Uncle to Steven (Dia) and Dean (Sarah). Brother-in-law of Bob, Suzie, Monique, Chris and their spouses. Cherished uncle and cousin to many. Neil will be forever missed by his lifelong friends John, Sandie and Don.

Neil was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. He had a deep love for his hometown and its people, which shaped the path he walked throughout his life. In his younger years, Neil was a talented athlete who played football with the Sault Steelers, where he forged lifelong friendships and earned respect for his dedication and team spirit.

Neil began his career at Algoma Steel, working as a machinist. Driven by a sense of duty and a passion in 1972 he joined the Sault Ste. Marie police force. Over a distinguished 29-year career, Neil retired from the Police Force at the Rank of Inspector.

Outside of his professional life, Neil found true joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who cherished his time in nature, especially in White River with the Chain Gang. Neil was also a lifelong member of the Bar W hunt club on St. Joesph Island. One of his greatest joys was fishing at Lake Missinabi with his beloved wife Paulie - as a shared passion that brought them both peace and happiness.

His workshop was a place of creativity and peace, where he took great pride in crafting beautiful, handcrafted items - gifts made with love for family and friends.

Neil will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous heart, quick sense of humour and his unwavering loyalty to the Toronto Blue Jays.

Neil touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and care team especially Amy and Jessica, who provided such compassionate care for Neil.

Donations may be made to ARCH (payable online or by cheque) in appreciation of the care and support they provided to Neil and his family.

As per Neil’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be a private graveside service.
