EDGAR, ELLA MARY (Lander) - January 8, 1920 to February 22, 2016

EDGAR, MORTON LEONARD -  June 15, 1921 to February 7, 2009

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our much loved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother at the age of 96. Ella & Mort re-joined their souls on Monday, February 22, 2016. Survived by daughters Janice and Brenda (Dan); Granddaughter Maureen (Thomas); Granddaughter Shannon; Grandson Scott (Charlene); and first Great Grandson Noah. They were good & loving parents; and were good providers, having worked hard all their lives for all they accumulated, and took great pride in their family. Ella was born in Hanley, Saskatchewan; raised in Thunder Bay (then Port Arthur); and worked at Scarfone’s Meats, Cochrane Hardware, and Canadian Tire here in Sault Ste. Marie. Mort was born in Thessalon; raised in Sault Ste. Marie; and worked at Algoma Tube Mill. They met after World War 2 in which dad was a Ship’s Steward in the Canadian Navy aboard the HMS Digby (mine sweeper) and they married in 1953.  We all moved to the Sault in 1961. Thank you to the kind and caring staff of Community Care Access Centre, Para Med, We Care, and Maple View Extendicare. A private funeral will be arranged later. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522). Donations to the Humane Society of your choice in Ella’s & Mort’s memories would be welcomed. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.

The flame on my candle has ascended into heaven to become a star.
