With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Ann Elsigan, wife of the late Ralph Elsigan on March 31, 2018 at her home in Barrie.  She was surrounded by her partner in life Joe Linshalm and daughters Karen Elsigan Van Der Swan (Ben), Sylvia Tempesta (Armando), Doris Elsigan (Al Errington), and Robin Elsigan (Frank Raimondi) and sister in spirit Ruth Finzinger.  She will be sadly missed by her brother Franz Ringl, many nieces and nephews in Austria, lifelong friend Anne Rebek and predeceased by her sister Martha.  Ann was diagnosed with cancer March 9, 2018 and although the time was short to prepare for her transition, she embraced this time with the same courage and humour that she embraced life.   She was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from the many friends she made over the course of her life. She was able to say goodbye to all of her grandchildren – Dustyn and Nickolaus Elsigan, Devin and Morgan Errington and Ian Van Der Swan (great grandchildren Benjamin and Richard). As per Ann’s wishes, a private family service will be held at Holy Spirit Church in Barrie April 11, 2018.  In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Arch Hospice (Sault Ste. Marie), Hospice Simcoe (Barrie), or Sault Area Hospital.  Special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Royal Victoria Hospital and Community Care Access Centre in Barrie, Dr. Sabrina Tung-Barnett who became Mom’s doctor in Barrie just prior to her diagnosis but made herself available to support us- you filled our hearts with your compassion and kindness, Maria Azevedo, a special personal support worker-you made Mom comfortable with your care and respect, Father Tad Walczyk of Holy Spirit Church in Barrie for his special attention to Mom in her last days, Dr. McLean, Dr. Walde and Dr. Wilson for their ongoing care and respect for Mom’s wishes throughout the years. And finally but equally important to all of our friends many heartfelt thanks for your loving support of the family and Mom as we came to terms with this chapter of her life. Your love sustained us through a devastating time and gave us the strength we needed to endure these past few weeks.  A celebration of Mom’s life will be arranged in the fall at Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort.
