March 4, 1957 – March 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harry Joseph "Joe" Emdin on March 16, 2025, at the age of 68 in his home in Sault Saint Marie Ontario. Born on March 4, 1957, Joe was a resident of South Porcupine, where he was born and spent most of his life in the home he grew up in.

Joe was predeceased by his beloved parents, Annie and Joe Emdin and he leaves behind his loving daughter Lindsay (Raphael), granddaughter Evelyn, sister Susan Vlahovich (Tony, predeceased) and brother Roger Emdin. He will also be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe began his early career in the mining industry at Kidd Creek in Timmins. He then decided to go back to school to pursue his passion for helping people. He first graduated with honours as a Social Service Worker in 1998 from Northern College in Timmins. He specialized as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Joe then continued his education and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Lake Superior State University of Michigan, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1999. After graduating, Joe lived and worked in Sault Saint Marie Ontario until his passing.

Joe loved nature and truly enjoyed fishing and blueberry picking. He appreciated the simple things in life and liked to write and receive handwritten letters. He will be fondly remembered for his warm heart, his creativity, and his devotion to those he loved. His legacy will live on in the memories of his family and friends.

A service will be held this spring at the Tisdale Cemetery in South Porcupine. The date will be announced in May.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter or food bank in Joe's memory.
