August 8, 1959 – April 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Doug Fairburn on Monday, April 14, 2025 at his home in Pancake Bay.
Loving and devoted husband to Nancy. Cherished son of Lillianne (late Flloyd). Dear brother to Kevin (Jan), Laurie Ross (Clark), and Tim (Becky). Loving stepfather to Greg Lidstone, Marcie Calvert (Jake), and Ryan Lidstone (Kathleen). Exceptional grandpa to Nora, Henry, Olivia, Mikayla, Lucy, Callie, Jack, and Zach. He will be missed by his extended family, including his cousins Jocelyne, Laura (Gary), Valerie (Rick), and niece, BreighAnn who all held a special place in his heart.
Doug loved his home at Pancake where he and Nancy enjoyed the kindness of many neighbours and spending time with their good friends Nino, Lori and Nino Bud whose friendships will always be appreciated by Nancy.
Doug had a passion for learning, and he was always willing to share what he learned with those he loved. He was an exceptional cook - you never went hungry at Doug’s house. Doug loved the outdoors, throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, bee keeping, and gardening. He was a handyman who could fix anything. He enjoyed woodworking, and spent many hours in his garage building a variety of things for the people he cared for. Doug gave 110 percent to every endeavor. He was a thoughtful, kind, giving, reliable, hardworking man.
Doug loved his family, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. We are devastated by this loss, and we will miss him deeply, but knowing he is with his Saviour is our sustaining comfort.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) can be made to Camp ABK. Arrangements are entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522). Online condolences and tributes can be made and found at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
