Passed away peacefully in his 82nd year at the Thessalon Hospital with family at his side. Loving husband and best friend of Patsy for 56 years. Loving dad and mentor of Kimberly Hamilton (Martin), John and Chris (Tammy). Special Grandpa of Tara (Jaime), Stephanie (J.P.), Justine, Steven (Casey), Weston (Ali), Elliott and Corbin. Special caretaker of Rudy and Timber his beloved cats. Son of The Late John and Lillian Fluke. Brother of Dolores (Bob), Gary (Clare), Penny and David (Lia). Son in law of The Late Morris and June Driver. Brother in law of Clayton (Lois) Driver. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
For 20 years Bob was the “caretaker” of Highway 129 hauling hay to lumber camps for the horses in Chapleau and beyond, bringing lumber back on his return trip to wholesale. In 1979 the final chapter was written when Bob and Patsy opened Fluke’s Timber Mart which continues to operate well into its 3rd generation. Bob served for 18 years as a councillor on the Thessalon Town Council. Bob’s favorite past time was spending time with his grandkids especially watching them play hockey. Bob’s other favorite past time was attending auctions and #35 will be truly be missed at the next auction.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Church of the Redeemer in Thessalon, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11am. The family asks you to join them at the IOOF hall following the service for a chance to visit and reflect on Bob’s life. No flowers. Donations to the Thessalon Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Thessalon Hospital for their care of Bob.
