It is with profound love and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Flora Carmela Foggia on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the age of 89, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Born on July 18, 1935, in Cosenza, Italy, Flora was the beloved daughter of the late Luisa and Pietro Masci, and the devoted wife of the late Settembrino "Peter" Foggia, with whom she shared 70 years of unwavering love and companionship with.

Flora's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, joy, and an indomitable spirit. Her legacy continues through her cherished children: Mary-Lou Smuczek (Stan), Lucy Kauppi (Robert), Anna, Silvana, Franca, Julie, and Peter.

Flora's role as a grandmother was one she held close to her heart, providing love and guidance to her grandchildren: Joey Smuczek of Burlington, Ontario, Stephanie Smuczek of Toronto, Ontario, Trina of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Adam Kauppi (Samantha) of North Bay, Ontario, Joshua Bonds of Chatham, Ontario, Nicholas Bonds of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Rayann Sewdell of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Annarae Jarrett (Chad) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Christina Legere (Michael) of Toronto, Ontario, and Patrick Desgrossliers of Mexico. Each of them will carry forward her lessons of kindness and the importance of family. She was the special great and great-great grandmother of many.

She was the loving sister of Angelo Masci (late Gemma) of Sault Ste. Marie, Grace Tarsitano (Tony) of Montreal, Quebec, Fernando Masci (Tonina) of Italy, Jepino Masci of Italy, Rita Masci of Italy, and the late Maruzza Luzzi (late Biaggio) of Italy. Sister-in-law of Ada, Romolo, Ettore, Alphonso, and Anna Maria all of Italy. Flora will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who adored her.

A woman of great warmth and generosity, Flora was the epitome of selflessness. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her advice always wise. She had a spirited nature, which infused every gathering with laughter and every hardship with hope. Flora's hands were rarely still, as she was often found tending to the roses in her garden or crafting meals that nourished both body and soul.

Her unwavering faith and strength were sources of inspiration to all who knew her, and her legacy of love will continue to resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.

Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Ontario Finnish Resthome for their exceptional care of Flora over the years. Your dedication and kindness made a significance difference in her life and in the lives of the family. Even in her final days, it brought us comfort knowing you treated Flora with the utmost dignity and respect.

Resting at O’Sullivan Funeral Home where family and friends may come to visit on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 10am until the time of the service in the chapel at 2pm. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
