With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Henry after a short illness, at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the age of 87. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 66 years, Beverly. Dear father of Dan Gaines (Sandra), Sharon Franklin (Rob) and the late Audrey Gaines. Proud grandpa of Ryan (Brittney), Sarah Yoon (John), Christopher Franklin (Kelsey), Caitlin Turco (Jesse) and Cathryn Franklin (Lukas) and great grandpa of Cooper, Connor, Isaac, Norah, Felix, Quinn and Emery. Predeceased by his siblings Evie (late Duffy, late Cecil), Fred (late Evelyn), Joan (late Roland, late John), Lillian (late Don), and brothers and sisters-in-law Frank (late Doreen, late Betty) and Clayton (Dawn). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Henry worked at Algoma Steel for 35 years before retiring as Maintenance Foreman. He was a business owner, working alongside his wife at the Party Palace for 45 years. Henry was most proud of his lifelong association with the Anglican Church. He began as an Altar Boy at St. Luke’s Cathedral, later becoming a Lay Pastor, establishing St. Mark’s Church in Heyden. He proudly accepted the honourable title of Canon bestowed upon him by the Anglican Church.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Emmaus Anglican Church (1643 Wellington St E) on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with luncheon to follow. Memorial donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) or the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Special thank you to Dr. Gray and nursing staff at the Sault Area Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Henry.
