William ‘Doug’ Geiling passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Thursday February 6th, 2025, while in the comfort of his family.
Doug is survived by his fiery wife Shelley, complete knobs of children Kellie and Bill (Amudha), and spastic sister Cathy.
Doug was one of a kind: his jovial attitude, mischievous smile and quirky sense of humor, punctuated by his unique laugh consisting of a singular HA! would leave his audience crying with laughter or stunned in complete confusion.
Beneath that veneer of quirk, Doug was very much a family man, who loved Shelley and his kids deeply. He met people where they were, never judging, and his main goal was always to alleviate stress and inject a laugh or two into whatever situation was unfolding. His kindness and his gentle nature will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Doug's two big passions outside his family and close circle of friends included live music and sports. Doug would frequently be found rocking out to the likes of Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam and Joe Bonamassa. His favorite sports teams included the Cincinnati Bengals and the Toronto Blue Jays.
The family is planning a celebration of Doug's life this summer.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the stellar staff at ARCH for their compassionate and empathic care of Doug.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the ARCH (payable online or by cheque).
