March 16, 1931-May 17, 2025

It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marion. She peacefully laid to rest her struggles with dementia at the Sault Area Hospital.

Cherished wife for almost 73 years of Damon Godfrey. Daughter of the late Mark and late Jean Johnson. Loving sister of Gwen Wolowich (late Walter), late Ronald Johnson (late Rose), late Gerard Johnson (Sharron), late Beth Fiacconi (Henry), Kenny Johnson (Barbara), late Lynn Johnson (Cathy), and Leslie Johnson (Shirley). Dear sister-in-law to Wayne Godfrey (late Joan). Adored and much love Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Marion touched so many lives with her radiant smile, laughter, compassion, generosity, strength and spirit. A bright light has been extinguished but her countless created memories will continue to shine and help us all mend our broken hearts. Her life was a true testament to the power of positive values and the unconditional love of family and friends.

Marion had a lengthy career working as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She shared with us the complexity of her job there along with the intricate dealings of the forgotten " party lines" and became master at her craft. There she acquired many lifelong friends and the bond they built led them to share in lunch every Thursday up until a short time ago. She also shaped a career in sales at Sears for an extended time.

Marion was closely connected to an entourage of close-knit unwavering friends. Together they frequented dinners out, holders of seasonal greyhound tickets for many years, and attended numerous personal and community events. Anyone who knew Marion would know her heart and soul belonged to the Goulais River. She held her fondest memories there. Hosting numerous family events and a place where her friends gathered frequently. The "Goulais" without a doubt was her peace of heaven.

A special thank you to her brother Leslie and to all that were at her side to hold her hand. She was the mother to none but mothered many. Thank you to the outstanding nursing team at Sault Area Hospital with honorable mention to 1B. The care, respect and dignity you gave this beautiful lady has not gone unnoticed. You provided this family in kindness and compassion and comfort. Words cannot express our deepest gratitude.

Celebration of Life to be announced soon.
