November 8, 1962 – June 28, 2025
In the loving arms of his beloved wife, and with his beautiful children and grandchildren by his side, Mike peacefully passed away unexpectedly at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 62. He is leaving behind the love of his life for 31 years, Sylvia Hanniman (nee Proulx). Unconditionally loving and devoted father of Natalie Grondin (Chris) and Neil Kellar (Laine). Proud and cherished Papa of Alyssa (Braidin), Jordan (Mackenzie), Abel, Noah and Eli and Papa to his great grandchildren Kaidin and Grover. Mike was the son of the late John and late Georgina Hanniman and the son in law of the late Marie Belec (late Auger) (late Rejean Proulx). He was loved by his siblings Bob Hanniman (Debbie), Joan Pilgram (late Dan), Angela Wilson (Dalton) and Rose McNulty (Lewis) as well as his siblings in law the late Johanne Conway (Dwayne), Alain Proulx (Aline) and Claudine Tynan (Kevin). He will be forever remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His fur baby, Rusty, will always feel the void of this loss.
Mike had the biggest heart. He would do anything for anybody and never said no to those who needed a helping hand.
Fishing, hunting, observing classic cars and working on all vehicles were Mike’s passions. He grew up doing firewood at the hunting camp with his family and missed it when he moved away from Renfrew, so he still often spent his days cutting, chopping and piling his wood fondly remembering those times.
Mike was the heart of the Grondin Family ball team (G-Team) who participate in the annual August long family ball tournament. He and Sylvia opened their home and yard, cooked countless meals and provided endless support to the families and friends of the team.
Some of his most cherished memories were from the many trips he was fortunate enough to have made with his family. He loved driving across Canada, going west to visit his son and his family and east to see the icebergs and the Viking sites. He also enjoyed visiting Las Vegas, which allowed him to see the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. His last trip was to Nashville to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Sylvia.
We will forever miss his sense of humour, teasing, his laugh and smile, his big bear hugs and his deep and unconditional love.
The family wishes to thank the ICU nurses and staff at Sault Area Hospital for going above and beyond during such a difficult time.
Donations in memory of Mike can be made to the Lift Fund at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and are greatly appreciated by the family.
