We regret to announce the death of James R. Harmar suddenly at his home on Monday, November 21, 2016. Soulmate and husband of Louise Harmar (McLurg). Dearly loved father of Ryan (Stevie) and Tim (Kristin).  Brother-in-law of Henrietta McLurg (Ian), uncle of Scott (Monique) children Hannah, Shae and Connor and Geoffrey McLurg (Paula) children Alicia and Kyle. Predeceased by his parents Denys and Kathleen Harmar. Jim was well known throughout Ontario as an innovator and developer of regulations for clean drinking water.  His expertise was innovative in developing new and stronger regulations to the new Safe Drinking Water act, following the Walkerton tragedy. He pursued all avenues of creating safe drinking water in Ontario in the most difficult of situations and circumstances. He acted with love of Sault Ste. Marie by sitting on various boards including the EDC, Innovation Centre and Sault College Board of Governors. He cherished his family and friends and delighted in life's many challenges. He will be truly missed. Special thanks to the paramedics and all first responders. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Water Tower Inn on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 2 – 4 pm.
