It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Hayes-Sheen into the hands of our Lord after a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at the age of 59. Marlene faced her challenges with unfailing hope, faith, grace and determination and is an inspiration to her family and friends who made the journey with her. Beloved daughter of John and Alice Hayes-Sheen, cherished sister to Jan Ambeault (Thom), Lorie Allen (Steve) and Alison Miskimin (Terry). Proud aunt to Thomas John Ambeault, Megan Katagis (Tom), Andrew and Stephanie Allen (Anthony Fronzi), Mathew and Julia Miskimin (Jude Miller) and Macy, Layla and Keira Katagis. Marlene will be missed by all the students and teachers whose hearts and minds she has touched during her 30 year teaching career in Brampton and Mississauga, Ontario. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass, following cremation, at Precious Blood Cathedral, Thursday June 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. Reverend Hamish Currie officiating. A private family celebration of Marlene’s life will be held at a later date at Batchewana Bay, Ontario, Marlene’s favourite place in the world! Memorial donations to the ALS Society in memory of Marlene would be greatly appreciated. (Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 705-759-2522).
