It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my life long partner and wife, Kathy (Wheeler) Inwood at Wilson Memorial General Hospital on February 26, 2025. Kathy was diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2022 and fought hard to make the most of what time she had left. Kathy leaves behind our son, John(Kim) and daughters Katie (Patrick) and Mary (Shane) in addition to her niece, nephews and cousins, Kathy was a devoted mother, and also grandmother to Cameron, Josie, Brooke, Jack and Daniel. She also took Shane’s (Mary) children as her own family and loved Madalyn, Jesse, and Victoria. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Jack and Mary, brother Danny and most recently her sister Sandy.

Even though Kathy placed family at the top of her list, her teaching career spanned four decades ending with Alternative Education where she helped many get their high school diploma. In retirement, Kathy found a new love in scrapbooking, enjoying many an afternoon with friends.

We thank the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Centre for their ongoing compassionate care (Dr. DelPaggio and Dr. Anthes). We also want to thank the staff of Wilson Memorial General Hospital particularly the RN’s, RPN’s and PSW’s for their ongoing wonderful care of Kathy. I especially want to thank Dr. Nancy Fitch who cared for Kathy for many years, seeing Kathy and I almost every day in the past 2 months.

Cancer is a tough journey, as many know, but is made so much better by all the support of the professionals as mentioned but also by friends and family who are there for you all along the way. I have no words that would thank them enough.

If you would like to honour Kathy, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or the Wilson Memorial General Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Kathy sometime in August and will be announced.
