January 7, 1944 – April 22, 2025.

Jacqueline Johns in her 82nd year, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and in the arms of her true love and best friend, Alfred, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.  A devoted wife, cherished mother, proud grandmother, and treasured friend, Jackie lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and grace.

She shared nearly 57 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Alfred Johns – a partnership marked by laughter, devotion, and unwavering support.  Together, they built a life full of memories, raising a family that brought them endless pride and joy.

Jackie was the deeply loved mother of Kristen and Glenn Flood, Chris Johns and Catherine Taddo, and Megan and Jamie Jeffery.  Her warmth, wisdom, and nurturing spirit live on in each of them.  She was also the adored grandmother of Connor and Morgan Flood, Alexander Flood, Zachary, Emily, Ellen and Natasha Johns, and Jack, Isaac and Poppy Jeffery.  Her grandchildren were her delight, and she embraced each of them with a love as deep as it was unconditional.

Born to the late John and Mary Hayes-Richards, Jackie was the beloved sister of the late Lawrence (Liz) Hayes-Richards and the late Maple (Derek) Lewis. She was also a loving sister-in-law to the late Kenna Morrow, Janet Jamieson, Alan and Beth Johns, and Kevin (late Karen) Johns. She held these family bonds close and carried their memories in her heart.

She was a loving aunt, cousin, and Godmother to many, always ready with a kind word or a thoughtful gesture. Jackie had a special way of making everyone feel valued and seen. Her friendships were true and lasting – none more so than with Bob and Lee McMenemy, whose companionship she held dear.

Jackie dedicated much of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. Admired by colleagues and adored by her students, she brought patience, creativity, and compassion into the classroom. Over the years, many former students reached out to thank her, sharing how her guidance and encouragement had left a lasting imprint on their lives – something she cherished deeply.

Jackie had a quiet strength, a warm heart, and a generous soul. Whether it was a home-cooked meal, a beautifully wrapped gift, or simply a listening ear, she gave of herself freely and fully.  Her legacy is not only in her family, but in the many lives she touched with gentleness and grace.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Extendicare Maple View. Your kindness and care made a meaningful difference in Jackie’s final years, and we are forever grateful.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
